Ballet Quad Cities Presenting ‘Our Will To Live’
Our Will to Live, a new presentation by Ballet Quad Cities, will be held October 8, 2022 at 7:30pm at Adler Theatre, Davenport, Iowa. Tickets are available at www.balletquadcities.com
A brilliant, bold-as-can-be, and, to our knowledge, precedent-setting program of original choreography by Courtney Lyon and Emily Kate Long celebrating and dramatizing works by Jewish composers who fled the Nazis or tragically died in the camps. The significance — and unfortunately, relevance — of this program is deep. Our Will to Live is a step toward a reset, resurrecting the music and vivifying it via dance. However, despite their tragedies, the meaning of these composers’ and artists’ lives — their iron-like determination, defiance, and courage in asserting their will to live as fully as possible — despite the most humiliating, debilitating circumstances — are profoundly inspirational and an eloquent, intense testimony of human dignity. We honor them with this performance.
Our Will to Live is presented in collaboration with the Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities and the Holocaust Education Committee of the Quad Cities as part of “Out of Darkness: Holocaust Messages for Today.”

Praised by novelist C.J. Box as a “page-turning, race-against-the-clock novel”, Godspeed is a stark exploration of the haves and have-nots, a cautionary tale of greed and violence that asks: How much is never enough?
Butler’s other works include his internationally bestselling and award-winning debut, Shotgun Lovesongs, Beneath the Bonfire, The Hearts of Men, and Little Faith.
You won’t want to miss this night!
For more information about this event, please contact the Moline Public Library’s Information Desk at 309-524-2470.
