Rock Island Public Library, AOK Network, Partner to Promote Preschool Learning through Play
Families can sign up to pick up a free Hug-A-Book: Play kit next week filled with at-home activities to support preschool learning through play. The event kit is available at Rock Island Public Library locations.
Registration is open now through the Rock Island Public Library for the free kit, which offers take-home activities for blocks, a free book, crayons, and details on the importance of play for early learning success in children ages two to five. To sign up for the free kit, visit the library event calendar at www.rockislandlibrary.org, or call 309-732-7360.
Registered participants may then pick up the free kit anytime during library hours between September 20 to 25 at any Rock Island Public Library. Registrants should indicate their pick-up preference for Downtown, Southwest, or the Mobile Library2Go when signing up. Kits may be picked up inside the library or via Curbside.
The Hug-A-Book Learning Through Play kit is offered in partnership with the Rock Island County AOK (All Our Kids) Early Childhood Networks. In addition to the Library and AOK, participating organizations include the Child Abuse Council, Aldridge Early Learning Center, Rock Island County Regional Office of Education, East Moline School District 37, and the Rock Island-Milan School District #41. Book funding was received from the Merrill Harris Memorial Fund of the Rock Island Public Library Foundation.
Rock Island Public Library offers a series of Hug-A-Book early learning events each year to help create young readers by fostering a love of books and reading. Each event meets at least one of the “sing, talk, read, write and play” skills of the “Every Child Ready to Read” learning model.
For more events and services at the library, visit the library website at www.rockislandlibrary.org, call 309-732-READ, and follow the Rock Island Library on social media.
