Rock Island Public Library Announces Expansion of Digital Magazine Collection
Rock Island Public Library (RIPL) has vastly expanded its selection of digital magazines available through RBdigital, a service of Recorded Books (Prince Frederick, MD.) After a year on the RBdigital platform, RIPL moved from a basic subscription of just 50 magazines to an unlimited subscription offering access to 3,200 magazines.
RBdigital features full-color, digital magazines for instant desktop reading, mobile streaming, and mobile-app download, available anytime with an internet connection. Rock Island Public Library patrons can add new and back issues to their personal reading libraries with no holds, no checkout periods, no late fees, and no limits to the number of magazines checked out and downloaded.
A few of the popular and special interest magazine titles available from RBdigital include Car and Driver, Cloth Paper Scissors, ESPN, Forbes, Mother Jones, Gluten Free Living, Good Housekeeping, Lonely Planet Travel, New York Review of Books, Vanity Fair, Cook’s Country, and Outdoor Life. Children’s titles include National Geographic Kids, Storytime, and Highlights titles. International magazines are also available in languages ranging from Afrikans to Welsh.
“To make your search a little less overwhelming, we suggest filtering by magazine genre when you’re browsing. The options range from adult coloring books to history, and from motorcycles to women’s fashion and beauty, so there’s something there for every reader,” said Amy Sisul, director of adult services, Rock Island Public Library.
Existing users will need to change saved online bookmarks to the new RBdigital URL. For details on accessing the expanded service, contact a Rock Island Public Library staff member at 309-732-7323 or visit www.rockislandlibrary.org.
Rock Island Public Library also offers support by Live chat during library building hours of 10am to 6pm Monday-Friday, and during Curbside-only pickup hours on Saturday, from 9am to noon.
