Rock Island Library Hosting Imagine Your Story Summer Reading Program
Looking for more incentive to read over the summer?
With the touch of their magic wand, the Rock Island Library’s Imagine Your Story summer reading program has transformed into online, virtual, and take-home offerings. Most programs require registration, for ease in contacting participants about picking up kits via Curbside.
To keep everyone motivated to read, challenges are available for children, teens, and adults.
Here’s how it works: Read anything you like, track it, and earn prizes/prize entries for meeting reading goals. Enter and track anytime through July 31 with our Beanstack online reading program. With either the online or mobile app, adults can log for themselves, and for several children or grandchildren attached to their account. (Printable forms are also available via the Library’s website.)
Need reading ideas? Every Friday at 10:30 am, you’ll find Children’s Online Book talks with suggestions for ages 7 to 12, as well as Teen Book talks for ages 12 to 18 every Monday at 1:30 pm. Both are on Facebook Live. Our Reference Department just started a blog of reading suggestions for adults, and there’s another Tumbler just for Teen book reviews.

If you’d like library staff to pick some items for your next hold request via Curbside, try our Librarian Picks From the Stacks form. It’s like having a personal shopper for library items.
Summer reading is a proven way for families to beat summer learning loss, which may be more pronounced this year. Full reading program details for all ages available under Download It,2020 Summer Reading Challenge. (A few of you had issues with this link before, but we believe this should work. Fingers crossed!)
