Read All You Want With Rock Island Library’s Digital Programs

You can keep up on your reading and check out a lot of great media through Rock Island Library’s digital systems!

  • During the closure, we have expanded RIPL eCard access to any resident ages 14 or older of Rock Island or Milan who does not already have a card. This eCard allows use of all our digital services.
  • You only need an eCard if you don’t have a full-access RIPL card. Your standard library card already offers full access to digital services.
  • If you know someone who can benefit from our RIPL ecard, the application is online, under Get a Card. We are filling these online orders while we are closed.

What else is new in the way of digital services?

OverDrive OmniLibraries has opened up access to RIPL cardholders whose cards have expired, or who have more than $5 in fines. Temporarily removing these blocks means you have access to thousands of online books and audiobooks for you and your child, as well as some videos, Great Course content, and language learning.

Read All You Want With Rock Island Library's Digital ProgramsYou can use OverDrive on your computer, or download either the OverDrive media console or Libby apps for your device. Most newer devices are compatible with the Libby app, but check the Help section for details. You’ll need your library card number and PIN (last four digits of card, usually.)

hoopla FREE Borrows Collection

Starting next week, Hoopla digital will offer several collections at no cost to subscribing libraries that won’t count against your monthly borrowing limit. More than 1,000 titles will be available. Stay tuned!

Kanopy, our other video streaming platform, has opened unlimited access to a collection of films that can be viewed without using monthly credits. The Kanopy Kids collection is also available for unlimited use for 30 days.

Need WiFi to access these services? The Library’s WiFi signal remains on. You may well be able to get a signal from outside our doors, or even from your car. (We can’t guarantee how far it extends, but give it a try.) Please observe all rules about congregating in groups, keeping a six-foot distance between yourself and other persons. We want you to stay safe!

For more information about our response to COVID-19, including how to protect yourself, please see our web page, Coronavirus and your library.
