Quad City Arts is helping promote a new arts and vaccination campaign in Illinois.
under 35 years old, people of color, and women. Ideally, these artists have audiences and followings in the target demographics. The artists themselves do not have to fit within said demographics.
The goal of the Arts and Vaccination Campaign is to encourage Illinois residents to combat Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy, and to support Illinois artists. The scope of each project is up to the discretion of the artist and can be anything from a TikTok video, street concert, poster campaign, mural, live or streamed performance, or other medium.
Concepts should be submitted by May 26, the project does NOT have to be completed until August 1, 2021. For an application and instructions, artists should visit www.quadcityarts.com/opportunities.html.
To date, 51 percent of people age 18 and older in Scott County have been fully vaccinated, while 44 percent of adults in Rock Island County have been, according to data from The New York Times.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday about 160.2 million people nationwide have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, including about 126.6 million people who have been fully vaccinated by Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine or the two-dose series made by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.
More than 60 percent of adults have received at least one shot. President Biden set a goal on May 4 of reaching 70 percent of adults by July 4.
