Call for Entries: Pulling Focus African American Film Festival

Dear Independent Filmmakers,

The Azubuike African American Council for The Arts is thrilled to announce the Pulling Focus African American Film Festival and warmly invites you to submit your short films. This prestigious event is dedicated to showcasing cinematic stories by and about the Black Diaspora, African Americans, and BIPOC communities. We are seeking films that reflect the richness of the African American or African descent experience, crafted with passion and the unique perspective that only you, as a filmmaker, can bring.

Eligibility:

National & International Films about the Black Diaspora/African American/BIPOC experiences, created by African American filmmakers or filmmakers of African descent.

Out of Competition Category:

Understanding the boundless creativity and diversity in storytelling, we also welcome submissions for our “Out of Competition” category. This section is designed for films that might not meet the festival’s main criteria but are nonetheless compelling, innovative, and deserving of a platform at Pulling Focus.

Festival Mandate:

The Azubuike African American Council for The Arts is committed to empowering and inspiring Black filmmakers. Our mission is to bring recognition to the important cinematic stories made by and about people of African descent, providing a platform where these narratives can shine and resonate with audiences far and wide.

Submission Deadlines
Regular Deadline: March 31, 2024
Late Deadline: April 20, 2024
Filmmakers will be notified by: May 6, 2024
Event Dates: June 6 – 9, 2024
