Our Latest Artist Featured In The QuadCities.com Virtual Art Gallery: Jon Burns
Welcome to the QuadCities.com Virtual Art Gallery! In this feature, we’re spotlighting area artists and their work. Every Tuesday we’ll feature a new local artist.
It’s free and our way of showcasing awesome area artists and allowing them to include a link to their own online gallery or patreon!
If you’d like to be included in the gallery, just send your bio, a headshot pic of yourself and up to a half-dozen .jpgs of your art to Sean@QuadCities.com.
We look forward to adding YOU to the gallery!
Our artist this week is Jon Burns, one of my favorites on the local scene; in fact I own a number of his creations, and I highly recommend his work, especially if you’re into pop artists like Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Peter Max and Roy Lichtenstein or the bold iconography of ’80s-’90s pop modernist artists like Robert Longo.
Jon Burns is a musician, band leader of the local group Centaur Noir, and a notable Quad-Cities artist whose work has been displayed at numerous galleries in the area.
His latest series, the Q-C Icons series, which was featured on QuadCities.com, celebrates various people of note who were born, raised or have ties to the Quad-Cities.
He also celebrates various pop cultural iconic images and enshrines them in patterns of bright color and media.
Here’s a sampling of his images, below. More can be found on his Facebook page, here.
