Circa Rockin’ With Sun Records Sounds On New Year’s Eve
Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse in Rock Island is thrilled to be hosting a special concert attraction on New Year’s Eve featuring the music of legends such as Roy Orbison, B.B. King, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins among others!
GOOD ROCKIN’ LIVE: A Salute To Sun Records pays tribute to the birth of rock and roll and the music legends that Sun Records helped propel to stardom. In 1952, Sun Records opened up shop in a small storefront in Memphis, TN, setting off a chain of events that would change the course of musical history. In a few short years, this little record company produced superstars such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, and B.B. King among others!
GOOD ROCKIN’ LIVE will feature hits like “Great Balls of Fire”, “Folsom Prison Blues”, “That’s All Right Mama”, and “Blue Suede Shoes”. This musical tells the tale of how rock was born through the music and stories of those who lived it. “With as popular as Million Dollar Quartet was for us last season we are excited to be rockin’ in 2017 with the same great music.” said Brett Hitchcock – Circa ’21’s Director of Audience Development. “Everyone loves the music that came from Sun Records!”
Circa ’21 favorite Robert Shaw and his Lonely Street Band will be back for their sixth New Year’s Eve show at Circa ’21! “Our audience has come to really enjoy Robert Shaw.” said Hitchcock. “He is such a wonderful entertainer and a great story teller. All his shows are like a fun history lesson with music!” Shaw has done a number of shows at the theatre over the years including tributes to Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Bobby Darin to name a few.
Doors for GOOD ROCKIN’ LIVE: A Salute to Sun Records open at 7:30 and the show begins at 9:00. There are different ticket packages available for the evening. The buffet that evening will include Prime Rib. After the show the theatre will pass out party hats, champagne, and noise makers to ring in 2017!
