Music Of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper Coming To Iowa’s Capitol Theatre
John Mueller’s Winter Dance Party will be performing the music of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. John Mueller’s “Winter Dance Party” ® is the official live and authentic re-creation of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper’s final tour and the only show endorsed by the Holly, Valens and Richardson estates. Each live concert performance includes over two hours of unbridled, high voltage entertainment featuring all the hit songs of the 50’s era: That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Oh, Boy, Rave on, La Bamba, Chantilly Lace, and many, many more.
Tickets for the show can be found at www.capitoltheatreqc.com.
The original Winter Dance Party tour played the historic Capitol Theatre in downtown Davenport on January 29, 1959, only 4 days before the tragic plane crash that took the lives of the rising rock and roll stars and was coined as “The Day the Music Died” by Don McLean.
The Capitol was the only seated venue on the tour, as all other venues scheduled were ballrooms. Presumably to avoid confusion with audiences, the Davenport show was renamed Concert of Stars, as the Capitol did not have a dance floor.
Friday, February 7, 2025 will be a chance to experience a piece of rock and roll history at the newly renovated Capitol Theatre!
