FIV + Cats = Positively Adoptable
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a retrovirus that lowers a cat immune system which leave them more susceptible to secondary illnesses.
Transmission occurs through deep bite wounds that normally happen during outdoor aggressive fights.
A veterinarian can do a blood test on your cat to determine if your cat has FIV.
Cats who test positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) are often euthanized or considered not adoptable. In fact, cats who test positive for FIV usually live long, healthy lives and do not infect other household companions. FIV does not cause severe clinical signs and FIV cats live many years without health issues.
The Quad City Animal Welfare Center has an open adoption room of Positively Adoptable FIV cats waiting to find their forever homes and it is FULL! If you are interested in adopting an FIV cat or any other companion animal be sure to check our the Quad City Animal Welfare Center website qcawc.org, Facebook, or stop by and visit.
