Living Proof Seeks Entries for Annual Exhibit of Art by Cancer Survivors
Living Proof Exhibit, which provides the therapeutic benefits of the arts to people impacted by cancer, is seeking entries for its annual exhibition to be held from Aug. 16 to Sept. 30, 2021 in the Charles and Elizabeth Bisignano Art Gallery at the University of Dubuque.
All cancer patients and survivors living within a 200-mile radius of the Quad-Cities are eligible to submit up to five works for consideration. Entries must be received by June 1, 2021.

“We are thrilled to bring our Visualization of Hope exhibition back to Dubuque,” said LPE executive director Pamela Crouch. “The area has a vibrant arts community, and the medical community is extremely supportive of the arts-health connection.”
“This is a wonderful collaboration,” said Alan Garfield, director of the Bisignano Art Gallery. “The students in our physician assistant program as well as our nursing program will learn so much from this exhibition.”
For consideration in Living Proof Exhibit 2021, please submit the following:
- Completed application form. Additional forms are available at the website.
- E-mail: Artwork (up to five pieces) and application shall be submitted as attached files and emailed to livingproofexhibit@gmail.com. Digital images of artwork to be considered should be PC-readable, .jpg format and approximately 200 dpi. Artwork files MUST be labeled with title.
- Mail: Jury fees only should be mailed to Living Proof Exhibit, Attention: Pamela, 2814 47th St., Moline, IL 61265. The phone number is 309-2366-1360.
Include the following items with your submission:
- Digital format is required.
- Image list with title, medium, date, dimensions of framed 2D art and H/W/D measurements of 3D pieces, and price (if for sale). Non-refundable check for $25 (for the jury fee) payable to Living Proof Exhibit.
- Current artist statement with a maximum length of 150 words. Please be aware that space is limited and your statement may be edited to fit on the label that will be placed by your art on the gallery wall. This statement should include information about your cancer journey and how your journey affected your art and/or how your art affected your cancer journey.
LPE provides the therapeutic benefits of the arts to those impacted by cancer. This includes patients, survivors, families, and caregivers.
It provides free monthly Creative Sessions, exhibitions of art created by cancer survivors as an annual major exhibition and permanent rotating exhibitions at the cancer centers, and art-to-go projects for patients and their families as well as utilizing Beam Pro technology to share the exhibitions at the Figge Art Museum with patients receiving treatment at the cancer centers.
The Bisignano Art Gallery is located inside the Heritage Center at the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. The gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday during the academic year. Summer hours vary and may be by appointment only.
