Iowa And Illinois Celebrate! Red White and Boom Explodes Across The Mississippi River TONIGHT!

The Quad-Cities explodes across the Mississippi River with one heck of a party planned for America’s birthday – Red, White and Boom.

The free annual festival spans the Iowa and Illinois riverfronts with events at Davenport’s LeClaire Park and Modern Woodmen Park and Rock Island’s Schwiebert Park on Sunday, July 3.

More than 45,000 pounds of explosives will be sent shrieking into the air to explode in fiery glory over the Mississippi River by a pair of battling barges, and organizers are understandably stoked about the b-day bash.

“It’s going to be a spectacular event,” said Kyle Carter, Executive Director of the Downtown Davenport Partnership Group. “We’re happy the stars aligned with the Major Leagues to get the Hall of Fame event, you can’t beat that, we’re the first in the nation to have it, and merging it with Red, White and Boom is going to be great. Also, we’ll have multiple branches of the military doing the oath of enlistment that day, that’s really neat and extremely patriotic, and then all the fireworks and cool stuff to do, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
