GOOD News For Covid-19 In Illinois Quad-Cities As Numbers Continue To Trend Positively
There’s finally some momentum in a good direction in regard to covid-19 in the Illinois Quad-Cities, Region 2 and the state in general.
The covid vaccine is now available to anyone 16 and older.
Positivity rates for coronavirus cases were the lowest they’ve been since March, at 3.3 percent.
Statewide, over the past week an average of 72,613 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered daily, bringing the total number of people vaccinated statewide to 9,450,418, according to the Illinois Department of Health.
At this point, 4,145,711, or 32.54% of the total population of the state, has been fully vaccinated. Over half of Illinois residents over 16, 55 percent, have gotten at least one dose.
In addition, numbers of hospitalizations, patients in ICUs and patients on ventilators is at its lowest since March over the past week.
The statewide death toll is at 22,066; and the total number of people to have contracted covid during the pandemic is 1,343,988 statewide.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said Monday that Illinois is on track to enter the “bridge phase” possibly as soon as next week, and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she expects the city to be fully open by July 4.
