German American Heritage Center’s “Best of the Wurst” Held Online in August

Davenport — Like many other Quad-Cities events impacted this year by Covid-19, the German American Heritage Center in Davenport will hold its third-annual Best of the Wurst Sausage Competition virtually next month.

German American Heritage Center's “Best of the Wurst” Held Online in AugustOut of an abundance of caution, this year’s Best of the Wurst will be a special, socially distanced event, rather than the usual in-person festival. You can support Best of the Wurst vendors throughout the month of August, vote for your favorite vendor, and enter to win special prizes. On Saturday, Aug. 29th at 2 p.m., GAHC will announce the contest winner on Facebook Live.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Visit participating vendors and make a purchase any time before Aug. 29.
  2. When you make your purchase, you will receive a ticket representing that vendor.
  3. Cast your vote by giving us the ticket of your favorite vendor (mail it to 712 W. 2nd, Davenport, IA 52802, drop it in the GAHC mailbox, bring it by in person, etc.)

Tag GAHC in your photo of your tickets from all participating vendors and use the hashtag #bestofthewurstqc on Facebook and Instagram and receive a free family pass to GAHC and be entered to win a special sausage gift basket with products from each of the vendors!

The participating vendors include Jerry’s Market, Katy’s Import Foods, Scherer Custom Meats, and Gollick’s Meat Market.
