For background, in 2021, at the young age of 41, Jill Bishop was diagnosed with breast cancer. She went through 5 months of chemo infusion before having a full mastectomy, then after she healed, had another 5 months of chemo pills. Just 3 months after the breast cancer treatments stopped, they found a lump in her armpit – the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. She then had to go through 33 rounds of radiation and also immunotherapy treatments. Then 3 months after that, she went to express care for a cough, had xrays, and found the cancer metastasized to her lungs – Jill has terminal, metastatic Stage 4 breast cancer. She has continued to have chemo treatments since that diagnosis with the hope of managing the cancer and continuing to live her life the best she can. Now Jill just received more bad news: the chemo drug for the last 7 months has stopped working. Doctors have changed to a new drug for continuing treatments, and she has already had one round of treatment, but that caused some serious blood sugar issues that are preventing more treatment. To make things even worse, her husband’s insurance just changed and now she has to meet a new out-of-pocket maximum before insurance will cover anything. Jill has always been a hard worker but she has not been able to work for a long time due to the cancer. Her husband works very hard as well but, as we all know, one income just doesn’t cut it now, even without having medical bills. In spite of everything, Jill keeps fighting and is determined to continue doing so. We want to pull our amazing community together to raise money to help Jill with ongoing medical bills, to alleviate even a little stress while she battles to continue her life journey here with us as long as she can. We want to celebrate Jill for the amazing, beautiful, kind, and HILARIOUS woman she is. We want to lift her up and let her feel all the love we have for her. We want her to know we see her and we are here for her. She and her husband are two of the very best people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know and their two boys are growing into amazing young men.
