Viva La Divas Kicks Off Upcoming Shows at Speakeasy This Weekend

viva-drag-pic-1Drag queens, kings of comedy and princesses of burlesque will make up the royalty of upcoming events at the Speakeasy, 1828 3rd Ave., Rock Island.

Reservations for all shows can be made at www.thecirca21speakeasy.com or by calling (309) 786-7733, Ext. 2. Anyone attending a show at the Speakeasy must be 18 or older except for the big band concert.

Viva La Divas, the area’s premiere drag show with award winning performers will spangle their way into the venue with a show Sept. 23. Doors: 7:00 – Show: 8:00 – Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

The Quad City Lip Sync Battle, a lip sync competition when the audience votes who did the best, takes place Oct. 1. Doors: 7:00 – Show: 8:00 – Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

The Manny Lopez Big Band play two hours of the greatest hits from the 1940’s and ’50’s on the second Friday of every month. Doors: 5:00 – Concert: 6:00 – Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.

Show Us Your Pokeballs shows off its pokeballs with a stand up comedy show covering nerd culture featuring comedy for nerds by nerds on Oct. 29. Doors: 7:00 – Show: 8:00 – Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

The Rocky Horror Show heads to the Speakeasy after its usual haunt, The District Theater, closed its doors last month. The show is October 8, 15, 28, 29. Doors 6:00, Show 7:00 for October 8, 15, 28. Doors: 10:00, Show 11:00 for October 8, 15, 28, 29. The 11 pm shows are 21 and older. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
