On September 28th 2019, Vintage Football returns to Douglas Park in Rock Island! The game this year will celebrate the 100th season of the NFL. Season 1 started right here in Douglas Park and we are excited to kickoff the 100th season the same way!Vintage Football And Rugby Runs Into Rock Island

Come see a vintage football game using 1920’s rules with replica uniforms and a melon football. Full details to come soon but introductions will begin at 1:30. Kickoff is at 2PM.

1920’s automobiles will be on display. The concession stand will be open serving food and drinks.

This event is free! Bring you lawn chairs, blankets, sun tents and grab a spot right next to the field just as they did back in the 20’s. Feel free to dress the part as well. Our Newsies will be handing out programs and the referees will be wearing their 1920’s referee shirts and hats.

This year we will host a “FREE” non-contact Rugby Clinic! Boys and Girls from 3rd grade to 8th grade are invited to experience the great game of rugby and participate in a Rookie Rugby Clinic at Douglas Park, Rock Island. Rookie Rugby is non-contact and designed to teach the fundamentals of playing rugby with short drills and fun games. The clinic will be on September 28th from 11:30 am – 12:15 pm. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited.

Register online now.

After the Rugby Clinic stick around to watch the 1920’s style Vintage Football Game at 2:00 pm between Rock Island Independents and the St. Paul Ideals.
