Up, Up, And Away With Balloon Festival This Weekend!

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a hot air balloon! It must be time for the Quad Cities Balloon Festival!

That’s right, the Quad Cities Hot Air Balloon Festival will take place at the Rock Island County Fairgrounds (4200 Archer Drive East Moline) on Friday Sep 27 and Saturday Sep 28. Gates open at 4 p.m. on both days.Up, Up, And Away With Balloon Festival This Weekend!

There are no admission costs for the Balloon Festival. However, it would be appreciate a donation item or cash for Quad City Animal Welfare Shelter. For a list of items needed at this time, please visit https://qcawc.org/how-to-help/wish-list.

The Balloon Launch will take place at 5:15 p.m. and the Balloon Glow will commence at dusk (between 6:45-7:15 p.m.) as long as weather conditions are cooperative.

Hot Air Balloon Tether Rides will also be available for $15 per person. A Tether Ride is exactly what it sounds like, a hot air balloon is tethered to the ground. Ropes are attached to the balloon and only allow it to go into the air approximately 40-50 feet. The balloon will then gently descend back down to the ground. This activity will allow you to see what it would feel like to take an actual hot air balloon ride and see the field from a higher perspective.

Food vendors will also be available for some yummy eats! Purchase a wristband for only $10 to enjoy the Fun Kids Area all day long!

In case of inclement weather, updates will be posted on the festival’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/quadcitiesballoonfestival/. If you are interested in helping out as a volunteer, please visit http://www.quadcitiesballoonfestival.com/volunteer.html.

Come out to the Quad Cities Balloon Festival this weekend, where being filled with hot air is a good thing!
