Teske’s Celebrates 95th Anniversary With Petting Zoo
Teske Pet & Garden has been a staple in the Quad Cities for a long time. With family-friendly service and a small-town business feel, there’s no wonder they are celebrating their 95th Anniversary!
Al Teske founded the Teske feed store in Moline in 1922. He set up shop in one of the oldest commercial buildings in Stewartville, Moline’s first residential suburb. From its start as a flour and seed store, Teske’s expanded into gardening in 1955 and later into pets, lawn and garden supplies, wild bird seed and power equipment for lawn mowing, snow throwers and chain saws. In 1992, Teske’s expanded into Bettendorf.
Carl (Ralph) Bingham started to work for his uncle Al in 1926. Ralph took control of Teske’s when Al passed away in 1960. The business retained the Teske name. Ralph continued to run Teske’s with the help of his children, Terry Sr., and Vicki Grudzinski. Terry, Sr., took charge of the store. Ralph died in 1990. From 1990 to present general management has passed from Terry, Sr., to Ty Bingham to Terry (George) Bingham to Darcy at present. Julie is the manager of the Bettendorf store.
Community members are invited this weekend to help celebrate Teske’s 95 years in business. They will have refreshments, prizes and many sales! On Sunday April 2, Millers Petting Zoo will be visiting the Moline Teske’s location (2423 16th Street Moline) from 10am-4pm. Bring out the kids and pet some critters!
