Speakeasy Holding Drag Show Benefit For Mary’s

The Speakeasy in downtown Rock Island will be hosting a drag show on Saturday, June 1.  All door proceeds from the show will go to the owners and staff of Mary’s On 2nd in Davenport who suffered damage and lost income during the flood.  The Speakeasy will donate all proceeds from ticket sales directly back to Mary’s on 2nd.Speakeasy Holding Drag Show Benefit For Mary's
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show and can be reserved by calling 309-786-7733, ext. 2 or at the Circa ’21 ticket office at 1828 3rd Ave. in Rock Island.  Doors for the show open at 7 and the show begins at 8 p.m.
“We’re excited to put on this benefit for our friends at Mary’s,” said Brett Hitchcock director of audience development. “They were terribly affected by the flood, including several of their drag cast who lost most of their costumes which were stored in the basement of the building.  We just wanted to do something to help them get back on their feet.”
While The Speakeasy has presented their popular monthly drag show Viva La Divas (now in its 7th year) on the first Friday of each month, this show will feature cast members from Mary’s. Those performing include Ginger Snaps, Coco Starr, Justine Thyme and Millange Cavalli.
Antoinette Nebinger, bartender and performer from Mary’s, said  “We are extremely grateful to The Speakeasy and its staff for welcoming Mary’s friends and family.  There is still so much to be done, but hopefully, we will have an opening date very soon.  All we want is to be able to open our doors and continue to provide a safe, accepting space where everyone is welcome.”
Come out for a fun evening on June 1 and help support this popular Davenport bar!
