Reach For The Stars At Planetarium Open House

Augustana College’s John Deere Planetarium Fall Open House is officially here!

This Saturday Oct 28 from 7:30 – 9 p.m. the planetarium will be open to the public at no cost. Indoor and outdoor programs will be led by planetarium director Dr. Lee Carkner.

A planetarium show will be exposing the wonders of the night sky, on the facility’s 30-foot dome with the Spitz A3P projector. You will be able to view the planet Saturn and the first quarter moon through the telescopes provided by the Carl Gamble Observatory. The Getz-Rogers Gallery will show images of celestial objects. A quarter-ton piece of the Canyon Diablo meteor will also be on display. The Fryxell Geology Museum will also be open to the public.

The observing areas are unheated, so dress appropriately for the weather. In the event of cloudy conditions, telescope views may not be possible, but the indoor programs will still be offered.

Come spend an evening with the stars!
