Quad City Arts Bringing New Art To The Airport
Meet local artists in Quad City Arts’ Art @ the Airport Gallery from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, October 16. Light snacks and a cash bar will be available. Free parking vouchers will be available for this event.
See collages by Amber Williams, painting by Carla Markwart and artistic birdhouses by 20 Quad City Artists, through October 28, 2019.
Amber Williams creates fascinating collages out of repurposed magazines and paper. She uses
many themes in her work including aquatic, landscapes and animals. Her compositions have an incredible amount of detail and her color palette is stunning, filled with a menagerie of patterns and texture. This series of work is titled “Paradise and More.”
Carla Markwart creates brilliantly colored acrylic paintings on paper and canvases. Her earlier work has an emphasis on abstract interiors, while later pieces depict abstract versions of downtown Chicago, where the artist was born. Her work has an architectural flair to it and draws the viewer in with her many angles, shapes and bright colors.
Adding whimsey, creativity and imagination to this exhibit will be birdhouses created by twenty Quad City Artists including Peter Xiao, Lisa Mahar, Dawn Wohlford, David Zahn, Steve Sinner, Megan Quinn, Kristin Quinn, Gail Ray, Philip Laber, Kathleen Washington, Carolyn Kruger, Michael & Kelly Bird, Kelly Schrader, Skip Willits, Bruce Wood, Amy Neilson, Bill Wohlford, Rick Frels and Dorothy Beach.
Art @ the Airport in The Quad City International airport gallery is easy to find. It is just across from the gift shop and restaurant and right before the security checkpoint. The gallery never closes, and you will pay just a dollar for parking.
