PaperFest Cutting Into Quad-Cities Next Weekend

PaperFest, a new visual arts event in the Quad Cities, will include art demos and family-friendly hands-on art activities, all with paper. Activities planned are paper book folding, foam core sculpture, origami, collage and paper making. Artists involved include: Bucktown multi-media artist Linda Hardin, Carolyn Krueger who teaches ceramics, owns The ARTery and directs MidCoast Gallery West in Rock Island, Illinois, Rose Patton of Seven Orchids Gallery in Bucktown, David Smith who owns Smith Studio and Gallery in Geneseo, Illinois, and DeSoto Studio (Rock Island) artist Amber Williams. There is no admission fee although some of the activities will request a fee for participation materials.PaperFest Cutting Into Quad-Cities Next Weekend

The event runs noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 24 at MidCoast Fine Arts’ Bucktown Center for the Arts, 225 East Second Street in Davenport, Iowa, 52801. Support for this MidCoast Fine Arts Program is from the Illinois Arts Council Agency; the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs; the Regional Development Authority, and Wells Fargo. PaperFest is part of the Alternating Currents Festival weekend, Alternating Currents | Downtown Davenport, IA | Aug. 22-25, 2019.
