Moline Centre popping with the springtime temps

Moline Centre has got plenty of activities popping for people heading out to enjoy the new spring weather. Here’s a rundown on what’s going on in the next week:

Two of the most successful and critically acclaimed bands in the music world, Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago, will stop at the iWireless Center on April 16 at 7:30 p.m. Each band provides a unique signature sound and both have impacted the history of music and pop culture for over four decades. The legendary rock and roll band with horns, Chicago, comes in at #13 as the highest charting American band in Billboard Magazine’s Top 100 artists of all time, while EWF has sold over 90 million records.

Check out a fun, new take on a striking old-fashioned art form, String Art.  This DIY class will meet at Cafe Fresh on April 20 at 6:00 p.m.  You will learn how to create a beautiful wall hanging using simple supplies such as wood, string and nails.  Registration closes April 16.

Looking for a really cool event? Why not try the Spring Scrabble Social Ride on April 23. It isn’t a scavenger hunt, but you DO have to collect things.  It isn’t a contest, but you might win a prize at the end.  Call your friends, grab your bike, and meet up at Happy Joe’s PizzaGrille.  From there you will take a ride to several friendly sponsor locations, such as the YMCA Boathouse, Pub 1848, and Lagomarcinos, then return for prizes, food and more fun!  All money raised goes towards the Children’s Therapy Center of the Quad Cities.

There is still time to sign up for the Moline Kiwanis Annual Fling Into Spring Bags Tournament which takes place on April 23 at noon in the Bad Boyz Pizza parking lot. Whether you are a veteran bagger or new to the sport, form a team and come participate in this double elimination bags tournament. Cash prizes for 1st – 4th place.
