Labor Day Weekend Great River Ducky Derby Floating Into Davenport

Common Chord, in partnership with the City of Davenport and
the Riverfront Improvement Commission, is inviting the public for a free nostalgic journey back
to the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, when the “Mississippi River Jams” and “Isle of Rock” festivals
filled Credit Island with the sound of rock!
Credit Island Throwback Fest 2024 takes place on Saturday, August 31, with a fun-filled day
planned and there is something for everyone! Here are the highlights of the day:
4:00-7:00: Community Carnival: Food trucks, kids’ activities, games, a magician, and more!
5:00: Great River Ducky Derby: Cheer on hundreds of rubber ducks as they race down the
Mississippi River at Common Chord’s Great River Ducky Derby fundraiser for music education.
6:00-10:00: Throwback Fest Concert: Featuring an Allman Brothers tribute set by the Beaker
Brothers Band, Einstein’s Sister, and QC Rock Academy bands.
The Credit Island Throwback Fest which is the final concert of The Big9 riverfront series, a
partnership between the City of Davenport and Common Chord which hosted concerts along
Davenport’s nine miles of riverfront at a variety of locations, including Veteran’s Memorial Park,
Lindsay Park, The Last Picture House, and more.
The Great River Ducky Derby is a community event and fundraiser supporting music education
programs throughout the community. Community members can “adopt” their ducks with a
donation. The first three numbered ducks to cross the finish line will win prizes. Duck adoptions

“Common Chord is thrilled to join forces with the City of Davenport in celebrating our
community’s rich musical heritage,” says Tyson Danner, Common Chord Executive Director.

Stephanie Bley, Riverfront Community Engagement Coordinator for the City of Davenport, says
“It has been so exciting to see the public turn out for this concert series in Davenport’s beautiful
riverfront spaces. We can’t wait to end the summer with the Throwback Fest!”

ABOUT THE BANDS:
Einstein’s Sister has had a national and international presence since emerging in the early
‘90s with a string of nationally critically-acclaimed hits, including “Learning Curves” and “Humble
Creatures”. The group has repeatedly played at national festivals, has opened for many national
acts, and has had its music featured on multiple MTV and streaming shows. Their latest EP –

The Beaker Brothers Band For over 15 years the Beaker Brothers Band has been paying
homage to the original jam bands of the late 60’s and early 70’s – the Allman Brothers, Clapton,
Santana, Little Feat, Rolling Stones, James Gang, the Doors, Steely Dan, Neil Young, CCR,
and many more.
QC Rock Academy opened in December 2011 and has been teaching the Quad City area to
rock since day one. Located in Davenport, right off of Kimberly Road, they offer lessons, group
classes, and rock camps led by some of the best instructors in the area with years of experience
and expertise. Programs are available for ages 7 to adult. Learn more at

MORE ABOUT THE FEST:
FREE Family-friendly event.
FOOD: Food trucks will be on-site.
DRINKS: Bring your own drinks. Coolers, etc. are permitted. *No glass containers.*
SEATING: Bring your own blankets and chairs!
TENTS: Tents, pop-ups, umbrellas, and other tall items are allowed, but must be placed further
from the stage, behind the line marking “tent area.”
PARKING: Parking will be available on the island. Please follow traffic directions upon arrival.
PETS: Well-behaved pets are welcome! Dogs must be leashed.
LOCATION: Northeast end of Credit Island, near the boat ramp and lodge.
Throwback Fest is produced by the City of Davenport, in partnership with Common Chord and
the Riverfront Improvement Commission and is made possible in part thanks to a grant from the
Regional Development Authority.
