Karaoke And Costumes On Tap This Weekend At The Railhouse

railhouse-11“A long, long time ago, I can still remember how that music used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance, that I could make those people dance and maybe they’d be happy for a while.”-American Pie by Don Mclean

Ever since I was a small child, and I mean SMALL, I have been singing. I remember being a 10 year old little girl sitting around a campfire singing to a bunch of adults to the tune of my uncle’s guitar. I sang everything from The Eagles to Queen. I had zero problem hitting all the notes on the scale when I was that age. Now I am older and I sing more like Bob Segar and Janis Joplin. Regardless of my limits, my dream still lives on. My love for the music is intense and my ability to bring people into my delusions of rock is awesome!

The Railhouse, 803 First Avenue, Silvis is where I was finally able to make the people dance. I have been going to this bar to sing since I can remember. Circumstances opened up an opportunity for me to slide into the position of their karaoke DJ. (This was one of my life goals!) I am now able to live out my dream of being a rock star without the paparazzi bothering me all the time. For 2 years now, I have been there off and on. I have made over 1000 friends and many “fans” working there. The staff is awesome.

Halloween is here! It is my very favorite holiday and the Railhouse loves it, too. We are celebrating with a karaoke contest. Saturday, October 25th, our contest will be starting at 9pm and a costume contest directly following. There will be a $100 prize for 1rst place and $50 for 2nd in the singing contest. After which, we will choose the top two costumes. One must be present to win! The two best costumes will also be given a handful of cash. First prize gets $100 and $50 for second! This makes it fun for everyone, even if singing is not your thing. See you all there and we hope you have an amazing Halloween!

railhouse-karaoke1The Railhouse has changed owners a few times. The current owners, Mary and Ron Riley, are down to Earth. Their customers know them and respect them as friends as well as local business owners. They also own two other bars, Riley’s Roadhouse in Cordova, and Riley’s Lyndon Pub and Lyndon. You should check out all of them! They have an unforgettable pizza with their own special crust recipe in Lyndon and Taco Tuesdays in Cordova.

But Silvis is where you will find me. I will be the chic with the crazy long black hair who is  jamming out to the beat of her own drum. I invite you to come and rock with me.

“I’m young. I’m wild and I’m free. I got the magic power of the music in me.”- Magic Power by Triumph
