It’s Easy at the Speakeasy for These Pimps

It may be hard out here for a pimp, as they say, but it’s much easier within the confines of the Rock Island Speakeasy for a pimproviser.

The downtown venue at 1828 3rd Ave. is opening its doors once again to “Pimprov,” one of the most popular adult improv shows in Chicago on April 30. The doors open at 7 with the show at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are $10 in advance and $12 at the door and may be reserved through the Circa ’21 ticket office, 1828 3rd Ave., Rock Island, calling (309) 786-7733, ext. 2, or online at www.thecirca21speakeasy.com.

“Pimprov” has been a hugely successful in Chicago and across the country for years. The show revolves around four pimps who took comedy classes at Second City on accident. The group lacks political correctness but makes up for it with mountains of furs, flashy suits and platform shoes that may or may not contain goldfish.

This show is rated “R” and is intended for adult audiences 18 and older. Opening for Pimprov will be local stand up comedian Steve

Jennings. “Pimprov” has gathered some pretty sweet reviews from its stable of critics around the country. The Chicago Tribune called it “Politically incorrect, and funny!” The LA Times wrote “More than traditional improv” and the Chicago Reader called it “Highly Recommended.”

“This has been one of the more popular shows we have done in The Speakeasy” said Brett Hitchcock.  “Audiences love the show!  The Pimps are absolutely hilarious.  You don’t want to miss them.”
