Tuneful Tuesdays (All ages, no registration needed.)
Noon to 1:00 pm, 1st Tuesday of month, December 2018 to May 2019, Downtown Library. Come enjoy a free musical performance over the lunch hour! Bring your lunch and enjoy live music at your library. Walking Tour of Oakdale Memorial Gardens, 5:00 pm, April 17, Oakdale Memorial Gardens, 2501 Eastern Avenue, Davenport, IA. Adults, teens (ages 12 and up) Come join us for a walking tour of historic Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport. Founded in 1856, this cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and on the Network to Freedom National Park Registry. We will explore the cemetery’s ties to the Underground Railroad and take a look at the diverse architecture and scenery. Wear weather appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. Community Shred Day, , 9:30 to 11:30 am, May 2. Rock Island Downtown Library, in Parking Lot. Community Shred Day is a free event which will allow community members to shred personal financial documents containing confidential information and data. Shred your personal documents securely to avoid identity theft. Material handling by certified destruction agent from Shred-It. This event is free and open to any member of the popular, and is made possible through sponsorship by Gas & Electric Credit Union (GECU.) Details: Limit three disposable containers per household. Please do not tie or tape containers. This service is for confidential papers only. Newspapers, magazines, etc, do not need shredding. Please dispose of these materials in regular recycling. Drive up, drop off event. ENTER LIBRARY ALLEY FROM 20th STREET SIDE. Turn into library lot from alley, drive up to truck and stay in your car. A volunteer will collect your boxes. Exit library lot onto 4th Avenue one way, turning LEFT. Material is bulk shredded by full bin. Due to traffic and volume, you won’t be able to watch your material be shredded. Shred-It is NAID Certified for mobile document destruction.
