Firecracker Run Sprints Into East Moline

Wow! Guns and Hoses are playing the Quad-Cities!

Wait a minute . . .

Ok, maybe it isn’t Axl, Slash, Duff and the boys, but Guns and Hoses is part of another pretty exciting event going on this weekend – Firecracker Run.
The entertainment event headlined by a 10K run and 5K run/walk for charity takes place beginning at 7:30 a.m. July 4 and runs through the morning and early afternoon with a variety of races, from competitive jaunts to hospital bed races featuring guys in Elvis costumes to the aforementioned Guns and Hoses competition between area police and firefighters, racing against each other for their respective charities.

It’s good health and good fun and a good time for good causes.

Things get started with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the East Moline Fire Fighters Association benefiting MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) at American Legion, Post 227, 829 16th Ave., East Moline. Cost is Adults $5, Children (12u) $3.

The races begin at 7:30 as well, and the start and finish lines are in downtown East Moline (8th Street and 15th Avenue). Musical entertainment is provided along the course. The kiddie races for the children 8-and-under get going at 7:45.

There’s also a costume contest for most patriotic costume, live music, food, family-friendly entertainment and more along the race route through downtown East Moline.

All monies raised go towards East Moline community projects.
