Ever Wish To Go Back To Simpler Times?
With the hustle and bustle of everyday activities, do you ever wish you could step back into simpler times for a day? Well, here is your opportunity!
Colonel Davenport House, located on the Rock Island Arsenal, is hosting a Pioneer Day on Saturday June 17 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Step back in time for a day and witness fur trader re-enactors, called a Buckskinners’ Rendezvous, pioneer portrayers demonstrating hatchet and knife throwing, and craft demonstrators such as wood-working, spinning, lacemaking, quilter, and basket weaving. Old time music specialist Wesley Wells will be a roaming musician as well! Dickey’s BBQ will also be on site with sandwiches, sides and drinks.
Kids’ games and activities will also be available, including turkey in the straw game, scavenger hunt, homemade ice cream making, scrub board washing, yarn dolls, tin punched designs, and a face painter will be doing Native American designs.
Don’t forget to tour the historic Colonel Davenport House while you’re there! Admission for Pioneer Days (tour included) is $10.00 for adults (13 years and older), $8 for seniors (65 and older) and children 12 and under are free.
