Drive-Thru Animated Light Show Coming to Quad Cities!

Brace yourselves, Quad Cities. One of the most amazing drive thru Christmas Light Shows ever created is heading to Davenport’s Centennial Park!

Santa’s Rock n Lights bring the very first incredible animated show of lights to Centennial Park (209 S Gaines St. Davenport) beginning Friday Nov 23 and continuing through Monday Dec 31.  Drive-Thru Animated Light Show Coming to Quad Cities!

Hours will be Monday-Thursday 5-10 p.m. and Friday-Sunday 5-11 p.m. Admission is only $20 per vehicle. Viewers will be able to purchase tickets in advance on-line or at the gate. Tickets will go on sale within the next week.

Each vehicle that enters will tune their radios to a specific frequency and appreciate the magic of sound and visual beauty combined. Viewers will enjoy a 1-mile long journey through Christmas light bliss. Feel the holiday spirit through the gigantic snowflakes, four 20-ft mega trees, 10 10-ft mini trees, a 150 ft long tunnel and so much more. Vehicles will also have an opportunity to stop and simply enjoy or capture the moment photographically, at a designated area.

Santa’s Rock N Lights, created by Peter Staryowicz, includes 1,000 programmable aspects and 100,000 lights. Peter, who is the President of All Community Events in the Chicago area, has a lot of experience with glowing entertainment. As the original creator of the popular Glo Run, he is no stranger to creating an experience above and beyond what is expected by participants. “It’s an experience. It’s got action, energy and lights!” Peter shares.

Peter graduated from Iowa State University and when he thought of locations to take his drive thru Christmas Light Show, the Quad Cities came to mind. He wanted the area to have an opportunity to experience something magical during the holidays. When he approached the City of Davenport he was pleasantly surprised to find “the city was really excited”.

Another individual helping to bring the magic of Santa’s Rock N Lights to the Quad Cities is Matt Baker. Matt Baker, of Manchester Lights in Naperville, assisted with the programming of the first nighttime running series, Glo Run. Manchester Lights began with a small light display constructed by an intrigued and intelligent teenage boy. After his amazing skills were quickly recognized by his neighbors and the entire community, Manchester Lights became the phenomenon it is today.

When local Christmas light enthusiast Carlos Barreto heard about Santa’s Rock N Lights coming to the Quad Cities, he was ecstatic! Carlos has been creating his own magnificent computerized mix of yard, house and tree lights for over 15 years. Colona Christmas House has created its own impressive following in the past decade. The idea of joining forces with the Santa’s Rock N Lights crew and taking the concept of magical light displays mixed with joyous music to the next level was well welcomed!  “We love the lights, we love the holiday and we are excited to share with the community” Carlos shares.

While the layout is ready to go, each 3-minute song takes around 30-40 hours to sync up with the lights. Therefore, the laborious effort is still in full swing.

Could this event get any better? Yes! Proceeds from Santa’s Rock N Lights will be donated to local charities!
