Comedy Sportz Takes A Final Bow Next Weekend

“It’ll definitely be a shift for comedy in the Quad Cities, and we’re very excited about what the future holds,” said Jeff Adamson, co-founder and co-owner of both CSz Quad Cities, Ltd. and G.I.T. Improv. ComedySportz began in 1990 enjoying successful runs at both the former ComedySportz Arena (The Speakeasy) and at The Establishment before relocating this year to both The Spotlight Theatre in Moline, IL and One Voice Q.C. inside NorthPark Mall.

Patrick Adamson, CEO of CSz Quad Cities and co-founder of G.I.T. Improv, echoed those sentiments stating, “The community has been so wonderful supporting us during our three-decade tenure in Rock Island and our move to both Moline and Davenport this year.” He continued, “We are looking forward to continue bringing the Quad Cities the best in improv entertainment, and have reached a point as an organization where it makes the most sense – both fiscally and creatively – to move forward with our own original homegrown product.”

G.I.T. Improv – commonly abbreviated to just ‘G.I.T.’ and previously known as ‘Guys In Ties’ up through 2018 – was formed by the Adamson’s alongside fellow area improvisers in 1997 as a response to companies, schools, and organizations looking for quality improv entertainment and training, but with a more professional feel and not involving the entire sports facade. G.I.T. has since gone on to great success across the Midwest including numerous performances for charities and non-profits, corporate training workshops, coaching improv troupes, headlining improv festivals across the country as well as having a decade-plus run of sold out performances at The Bell Tower Theatre in Dubuque, IA.

The final opportunity to catch ComedySportz will be at regular matches on Saturday, November 9th and November 16th, followed by The Final Match on Saturday, November 23rd. All matches start at 7PM. In addition, there will be a final ComedySportz For Kids Match at Davenport Junior Theatre on Saturday, November 30th at 3PM.

The Adamson’s encourage fans of ComedySportz and improv in general to follow G.I.T. Improv on both Facebook and Instagram for all up-to-date news as well as upcoming performance dates. In addition, patrons can find the troupe online at their newly launched website, GITimprov.net.

More information concerning the organizations’ uncensored comedy venture, The Late Nite Shows, will be coming at a later date.
