Since I began reviewing the shows at the Establishment Theater, 220 19th St., Rock Island, I have laughed harder than I have laughed all year long. I love this place and I hope you all give it a looksee one of these weekends. You can catch PG rated Comedy Sportz starting at 7 p.m. and stick around for the R rated aftershow of the evening. The improvisational comedy never fails to impress the crowd as audience involvement is key to these shows. The actors are all very gifted with communication and have unstoppable wits about them.

This weekend’s late night show is Chili Three ways, and the last time it played, I stuck around to laugh my class off with the ever-flowing hilarity of their improv comedy team. Three of the cast retook the stage and began to prompt the audience to shout out things that would give them some idea of the character they would be acting is in a completely improvised drama they would create from their own minds.

Needless to say, the laughter filled the house and the story of Daryl, the not-so-intelligent overly hormonal teenage wannabe astronaut developed before our very eyes. I will not go into too much detail as our website is for all ages of readers. But Daryl was not the only created character of the evening. There was a bum, a billionaire, and a “gifted” man who was eager to be an astronaut himself. He and Daryl were…heroes. I will stop there. Remember to grab your dough to watch the show! Nachos are cheap and their pizza is INCREDIBLE. Be sure and try one of their amazing drinks from the bar, which stays open all night.
