Chics With Bics A Fun Girls’ Night Out At The Speakeasy

womens comedy picSome of the most interesting and funny conversations any of us have had are those that have been in that crooked hour of the night when the liquor has kicked in and the inhibitions have kicked out.

Heather Nobiling is hoping to recreate that loose, hilarious feel in the new show she’s put together, Chics with Bics, Just Having Beer In New Jammies: Comedy For a Girls’ Night Out. The gig takes place this Saturday, at the Speakeasy in Rock Island. Doors open at 7, show starts at 8. The cost is $10 in advance, $12 at the door. All female comics are onstage, but boys are allowed (and even encouraged!) to join in the fun.

The comedians involved include Nobiling, Nikki Gillette, Jasmine Ashcroft and Jessica Gordon.

“A few years ago, three, actually, I wanted to do an all-female comedy show because that’s not something that had ever done around here, and we did it!” Nobiling said. “And it was a fun, great, awesome, sold out night showcasing all sorts of talented and funny ladies. Earlier this year I got that same itch, probably because I never stopped being surrounded by funny, talented women, and I’m lucky enough to be friends with several of them. Nikki, Jessica and Jasmine are smart, witty, hilarious and real.

“They, we, are all different,” Nobiling said. “Different ages, stages, backgrounds and lives, but we get each other and we get life. We also happen to get it in some of the most hilarious ways I’ve ever borne witness to.

“The show was inspired by the conversations we were prone to having from time to time,” Nobiling said. “Just hanging out being ourselves, I got an idea. I thought it would be awesome for us to recreate that onstage. And in our pajamas. Slumber party style, you know. And with some wine, because why not? And they were down for that! So this Saturday night at the Speakeasy we’ll be getting real onstage, with wine and in our jammies, and doing what we do best: commenting on life, each of us with our own unique spin on things.”

To experience that unique spin on things for yourself, check out the chicks and their bics in their jammies this weekend.
