Celebrate Summer Solstice at Illiniwek Forest Preserve!

Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year and kicks off summer! How do you plan to celebrate?

Join Illiniwek Forest Preserve (1201 State Avenue Hampton) this Friday Jun 21 for a jam-packed fun-filled day of Summer Solstice activities!Celebrate Summer Solstice at Illiniwek Forest Preserve!

 

Check out these exciting summer fun events planned:

5 a.m.                                SUNRISE YOGA

Start your day with sunrise yoga along the beautiful Mississippi River with Illuminate Reiki Studio.

 

8 a.m. to 4 p.m.               SCAVENGER HUNT

From 8 a.m. to dusk, a campground-wide scavenger hunt will be available. Pick up the scavenger hunt in the park office and turn it back in before dark for a small prize.

 

10 a.m.                              SOLSTICE STORY TIME

Volunteers will read two summer-related children’s books followed by a craft – ideal for ages 3-10. Parents are asked to attend with their child.

 

5 p.m. to Dusk                 Food truck at Pavilion (Food truck TBA)

 

6:30 p.m.                          ACTIVITIES AT THE PAVILION

After enjoying dinner from the food trucks, we’ll have sun-themed crafts and activities, plus a scavenger hunt around the campground. It’s fun for the whole family!

(Scavenger hunt will be available all day, swing by the park office to pick up a copy.)

 

8 p.m.                                SUNSET HIKE

Our rangers will lead you on a hike to a scenic overlook to watch the sunset. Open to all ages. Participants are encouraged to wear good walking shoes and bring a flashlight.

 

DUSK (est. 9 p.m.)           MOVIE IN THE PARK/Band in Pavilion
