EMSSC Bringing Top Soccer To The Quad-Cities

East Moline Silvis Soccer Club has long brought top soccer play to the area. Now they’re bringing TOPSoccer to the Quad-Cities.

EMSSC is debuting TOPSoccer, a program for mentally and physically disabled people ages 5-22, at the East Moline Soccer Complex in May.

TOPSoccer is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities to learn and play the game of soccer. Organized by volunteers and our coaching staff, the program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability. The goal is to enable young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of the US Youth Soccer family.

Here are the details:

Ages: Boys & Girls Ages 5 & UP

Cost: $35, every player receives a t-shirt.

Location: JACOBS FIELD

Why TOPSoccer?

TOPSoccer furthers US Youth Soccer’s mission of fostering the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of America’s youth through the sport of soccer at all levels. In short, TOPSoccer takes kids from the sidelines to participating in the game.

What is the role of the TOPSoccer parent?

As a TOPSoccer parent you need to:

•Provide transportation to and from all practices and games, ensuring that the player is prompt.
•Attend all practices and games.
•Lend support in a positive manner.
•Provide any pertinent information about your child to the coaches and administrators.

What should families expect from the program?

•A fun and meaningful experience for you and your family.
•Games and activities adapted to ensure your child’s participation.
•Safe and healthy environment.
•Parents will have the opportunity to network with other families for support and information-sharing.

TOP SOCCER BUDDY PROGRAM:

 

We are looking for volunteer buddies age 12 and up to assist the players. TOPSoccer buddies are an invaluable part of the program and a great way to make a difference in someone’s life while having fun.

The role of the Buddy may include but not be limited to:

  • Enabling a player to participate/play
  • Assist/Create/Direct/Guide/Teach in a FUN learning environment
  • Continuously monitor/assess the player
  • Interacting with players, coaches, parents
  • Role may vary widely depending upon needs of the player
  • If possible, we hope that buddies can commit to all sessions to help provide consistency for the players and program.
  • Help make sure every kid goes home with a smile on their face.
