Davenport Public Library Has Hired a New Director
The Davenport Public Library is pleased to welcome Jeff Collins to the Davenport Public Library family. Collins is set to take on his new role as Director on February 14, 2022 and the staff is excited to work with him.
Jeff Collins is an experienced library administrator who provides trustworthy leadership with integrity. He has proven success in increasing efficiencies and enhancing customer service to advance an organization’s mission. His mission is to inspire and facilitate positive change.
In his current role as Deputy Director at Laramie County Library System (Cheyenne, WY), he administers four of the five library divisions, including oversight of 60 employees and three library facilities. Jeff coordinates projects and initiatives, policy changes, strategic planning, hiring and managing employees, and coordinating library collections and programs. Past positions include Library Services Manager (Director) at Show Low Public Library (Show Low, Arizona), Library Director at Pinetop-Lakeside Public Library (Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona), Librarian/Public Records Archivist at the State of Connecticut (Hartford, Connecticut), and positions at Maricopa County Law Library (Phoenix, Arizona) and Tempe Public Library (Tempe, Arizona).
Jeff earned his undergraduate degree in History from Northern Arizona University and master’s degrees in History from Northern Arizona University and Library & Information Science from The University of Arizona. He holds credentials as a Certified Public Library Administrator (CPLA®), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®), Certified Manager (CM®) and Certified Public Manager (CPM®).
Jeff is a graduate of the 2018-19 Leadership Cheyenne class, 2017 Public Library Association (PLA) Leadership Academy: Navigating Change — Building Community, 2015 Arizona Library Leadership Institute, and is serving as an Honorary Commander at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. He is a member of PLA, ALA and the Wyoming Library Association (WLA), where he is currently serving as President.
Jeff resides in Cheyenne, Wyoming with his wife and two elementary-age sons and tries to ride his bike to work as often as he can.
After 33 years working at the Davenport Public Library, current Director, Amy Groskopf will be retiring on January 6, 2022. Throughout her time with the Library, Groskopf has been instrumental in the growth of the institution and will be greatly missed by her colleagues who are so thankful for her commitment to the organization.
