Davenport Public Library Goes Fine Free for Young Adult Materials and Rolls Out Auto Renewal System
The Davenport Public Library, as part of the RiverShare Consortium is pleased to announce that it will be even easier to use the Library!
Beginning January 1, all RiverShare member libraries decided to discontinue collecting fines on Young Adult materials! This change comes after the consortium voted a few years ago to eliminate fines on Juvenile materials.
Any fines that have been accrued prior to our kickoff date, must be paid to coincide with library policy. This new change only affects overdue fines. Patrons are still responsible for any lost and/or unreturned items and will be subject to the billing process.
Patrons interested in exploring our Young Adult collection can find it in the Teen sections of all Davenport Public Library locations, including any books, graphic novels, and DVDs that have YA listed on the spine label. The Library is passionate about evaluating services to better enrich the lives of our patrons and to eliminate as many real or perceived barriers that exist that keep patrons from utilizing our services.
In addition to discontinuing fines accruing YA items, RiverShare Libraries have voted to also launch an autorenewal system also taking place on January 1, 2022. This means, all eligible items checked out, will be renewed automatically to save patrons on any fines that may accrue on their accounts. Please note that items with holds, ineligible items (example: hotspots), and items that have already been renewed will not automatically renew.
For more information about these changes, please visit www.davenportlibrary.com or call Davenport Library at 563-326-7832.
Davenport Public Library would like to thank the City of Davenport for their supporting our goal of removing barriers to library services for children and families. Another special thank you goes out to the other RiverShare libraries for delivering the best possible services for our communities. Libraries going fine free in Young Adult and Juvenile materials include: Davenport Public Library, Scott County Library System, Musser Public Library, LeClaire Public Library, Clinton Public Library, Bettendorf Public Library, Scott Community College, Muscatine Community College, and Clinton Community College.
