Dance Like Nobody’s Watching, Because They Aren’t, With DJ Shane Brown’s New Mix
Miss getting out on the dance floors at clubs?
DJ Shane Brown, the man behind the boards at Billy Bob’s in the Rock Island District, as well as the former DJ for such hot spots as 2nd Avenue and the Stockade in the Village, has come up with a new mix for you to blast in the glorious realm of your own social distancing spot.
Shane dropped the new mix this evening, which you can check out here, along with the following note, on his Facebook:
“So here’s what I’ve been up to in the basement the past couple of days. This is, without doubt, the most ridiculous, silly, stupid mix I’ve ever tried. And I love it.
I got to thinking the other day: What are the songs that we all love but never own up to it? Tunes you can’t help but adore but would NEVER admit to it when you’re out with the cool kids? Songs you wouldn’t dare dance to at a club but you SURE would if you were home by yourself?
Guess what? We’re ALL home by ourselves. Quarantines know no shame. In college, I was known as the guy unafraid to bust out the embarrassing jams at beer-soaked frat houses and theater parties.
So screw it, we’re all stuck in this thing together. Let’s have some damn fun. I threw this together completely on the fly and recorded it live and raw.
Some of the mixes are terrible and it still might be my favorite thing I’ve ever done. I’m already thinking about an equally embarrassing Vol. 2. Enjoy. You can even tell people how terrible it is. I don’t care. I’m still laughing.”
That’s ok, Shane, in a time when everyone is freaked out about coronavirus, we need some laughs, and some fun music to fill the days and nights stuck at home.
