Composer presenting program on his music at Bettendorf Library

The Bettendorf Public Library’s music listening event series, Trax from the Stax, is offering an inside look at the creation of film score on November 11th at 7:00 PM. Davenport musician Neal Smith, who has recently composed, arranged, performed, and recorded a score of the Composer presenting program on his music at Bettendorf Libraryfilm “The Land Beyond the Sunset,” will be presenting the program. Trax from the Stax does not require registration and takes place at the Bettendorf Public Library located at 2950 Learning Campus Dr. in Bettendorf.

Created as a silent film, historian William K. Everson called “The Land Beyond the Sunset” “the screen’s first genuinely lyrical film.” The 15-minute long film was originally released in 1912 by the studios of Thomas Edison. Mr. Smith will present the film with its new soundtrack and discuss its history and the process of composing for it. Trax from the Stax is supported by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library.
