Brooks Named Senior Executive Assistant to the President At Western Illinois University
MACOMB/Moline, IL – Athena Brooks, administrator of Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb, has been named the senior executive assistant to the president at Western Illinois University, effective June 21.
Brooks has served as the administrator at Heartland since 2015. She had previously served as the administrator at LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center since 2009. Brooks has also served as the director of Courtyard Estates in Bushnell and as a regional marketing director for Petersen Health Care’s Assisted and Supportive Living division. In her roles as administrator, Brooks managed the facilities, including payroll, budgets, hiring, resident admission and care, among other duties.
“I’d like to welcome Ms. Brooks to WIU and the President’s Office. Her administrative experience, coupled with her commitment to providing outstanding customer service, will serve the President’s Office and the University well,” said President Guiyou Huang.
Brooks received her bachelor’s degree from WIU and her associate degree from Spoon River College.
“I’m excited and honored for the opportunity to serve President Guiyou Huang, the students, faculty and staff of Western Illinois University,” Brooks said. “As an alumna of WIU, my goal is to promote excellence in higher education for many years to come.”
In her community, Brooks serves as a Marietta Village trustee and a member of the CLEIO Rebecca Lodge.
The senior executive assistant to the president provides high-level administration, operations, budget and programmatic support to the Office of the President and is responsible for the daily operations of the office. The senior executive assistant also provides administrative support to the WIU Board of Trustees.
