Bisbee Named COEHS Recruitment, Retention, and Student Success Officer For Western Illinois
MACOMB/Moline, IL – – The Western Illinois University College of Education and Human Services has named Jill Bisbee as Recruitment, Retention, and Student Success Officer, as part of her role as a Field Placement Specialist for Counselor Education and College Student Personnel.
Bisbee will serve approximately 3,000 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students from all programs and departments to enhance, coordinate and implement the COEHS’ Strategic plan for Recruitment, Retention and Student Success.
“This new role is in pursuance of President [Guiyou] Huang’s Three R slogan of ‘Recruitment, Retention and Revenue,'” said COEHS Dean Francis Godwyll. “Our motto in COEHS in this endeavor is to ‘leave no student unattended to.'”
Before assuming this role, Bisbee served as Field Placement Specialist in the WIU Counselor Education and College Student Personnel department since July 2013. In that role, she coordinated recruitment, retention, job search, alumni relations, fundraising, special events and the field placement process for assistantship and practica experiences for CSP students, more recently working with both programs in the department. She was instrumental in conceptualizing and launching the part-time track for the CSP program in 2015, and co-created the Social Justice Summit in 2018.
“In COEHS, we believe it is not enough to recruit but also to retain those we recruit. To this end, we adopt the (Predictive) (Potential attrition root) =Fit Factor P2= Fit Factor formula to maintain and grow enrollment in a systematic way. This position, and Jill’s background, posit a holistic approach to student recruitment and retention, which assist us in becoming predictive and sufficiently aware of potential attrition roots, as well as properly align characteristics of prospective and enrolled students to the mission, resources and support systems of the college and institution to create the fit factor,” said Godwyll. “I’m pleased to have her serving in this critical role within our College.”
Previously, Bisbee served in a variety of roles within admissions at Texas Lutheran University, Gustavus Adolphus College and Knox College, including international student recruitment, orientation co-director, open house coordinator, athletic recruitment liaison, regionally-based recruiter and admissions marketing and publications point person from entry level through director positions progressively over the years, beginning from 1992-2011. Additionally, she served in leadership roles within the professional association of admission counseling.
She received her master’s degree in college student personnel from WIU and her bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College.
