Bettendorf Public Library Event Looks At Founding Of The Quad Cities

The Bettendorf Public Library is hosting an event designed to explore our community’s roots with its upcoming virtual edition of Community Connections: George Davenport and the Founding of the Quad Cities. The program will be held on Thursday, May 20th at 7:00 PM and is Bettendorf Public Library Event Looks At Founding Of The Quad Citiesfree to the public. Local historian Gena Schantz will trace the many careers of George Davenport and examine how he adapted his talents to serve and foster the development of the communities that surrounded him. An experienced local presenter, local historian and author Gena Schantz recently published, The Trader at Rock Island: George Davenport and the Founding of the Quad Cities.
This event will take place virtually via GoToMeeting. Advance registration is required in order to receive an invitation and password to join the event. Community Connections is held on a monthly basis and seeks to provide participants with a look into the Quad Cities’ local culture and history. This event series is made possible through the support of the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library.
