Quad Cities-Area Women to Speak Up About Heart Disease Tonight

Hundreds of women (and men) are expected to attend the annual Quad Cities Go Red for Women Event on October 28 to raise funds to fight heart disease and stroke, the #1 killer of women. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. at Waterfront Convention Center.

Quad Cities-Area Women to Speak Up About Heart Disease TonightGo Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s nationwide movement that celebrates the energy, passion and power of women banding together to wipe out heart disease, the number one killer of women.

The event includes an engaging and entertaining program, story from a local heart survivor, a heart-healthy dinner, silent auction, and other  opportunities for attendees to socialize with others who care about heart disease and stroke.

The event will feature a keynote by Denee Brown with Cardiovascular Medicine, P.C. Brown’s keynote will offer attendees information on simple   ways they can reduce their risk for the #1 killer of women: heart disease and stroke.

Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health and the Quad Cities event is locally sponsored by Canadian Pacific, Cobham, Green  Chevrolet, GreenState Credit Union, Kline Sewer & Drain, McCarthy Bush Corporation, Nelson Brothers Agency, Royal Neighbors, and Ruhl & Ruhl  Realtors.

WHY:  Heart disease is the #1 killer of women, taking the life of one woman every 80 seconds. Yet, heart disease is also 80 percent preventable through  lifestyle changes and managing risk factors. The Go Red for Women event will give attendees information on how they can identify their risk  for heart disease and stroke and aims to raise funds for woman-focused research, health education and awareness programs.
