PICKLE WRAP WARS 2: RETURN OF THE MEMES! More Memes Explode In The Briny Battle
As we previously reported FIRST on QuadCities.com, and then we saw duplicated by WQAD-TV8 (I mean, really, TV8? You’re gonna steal our ideas??? We can’t even!), the Quad-Cities has been buried in the brine of a sour battle royale over the past five days or so — yeah, that’s right, we’re talking about PICKLE WRAP WARS.
So here’s the dill… to recap in my own original words (imagine me reading this in Morgan Freeman’s voice, cool as a cucumber):
For those unaware, the owner of Cafe Fresh made a lengthy post the other day claiming that her Cafe was in fact the originator of the dish which has been floating around the midwest for almost 100 years, and lambasted Meatball’s sandwich shop for having the audacity to add pickle wraps to their menu.
The Quad-Cities erupted in brine and bile, putting the Cafe Fresh owner in quite the pickle as she was called out by hundreds of people for not, in fact, inventing a dish which existed before she was born. Sorry, time travelers, it just ain’t gonna fly.
However, in the midst of all this cacophony, there have been several plates full of funny memes created to lampoon and harpoon the controversy. We featured the first wave of memes here, but oh, there have been so many more since then.
(See what I did there? In the midst of a battle about originality I completely plagiarized myself and my own original content. So meta. David Foster Wallace’s ghost is probably vaguely aroused somewhere, delicately touching his bandana.)
