Reptile Day Slithers In To Niabi Zoo

Reptile Day Slithers In To Niabi ZooSnakes, turtles and lizards? Oh my! It must be Reptile Day at the Niabi Zoo!

This Saturday Aug 5 the Niabi Zoo (13010 Niabi Zoo Rd Coal Valley) is hosting their very own Reptile Day!

To start the day off there is an opportunity to enjoy a nice Breakfast with the Reptiles. From 8:30 – 9:30 a warm breakfast buffet will be served. Breakfast will end before the zoo opens, so those in attendance will have a chance to explore the newest additions before the crowds arrive for Reptile Day! The cost for non-members for this event is $22 and for members the cost is $18. If interested, registration and fees must be paid prior to Aug 5. You can go to http://www.niabizoo.com/Events/Event-List/Breakfast-with-the-Animals-Reptiles-(August).aspx to register and pay (all participants over the age of 2 must register).

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the zoo will open for Reptile Day! Reptile Day is included in the regular cost of admission (free for members).

The Niabi Zoo welcomed over two dozen new reptile species this year, including two Giant Aldabra Tortoises, and they want to introduce them to the community!

For those not squeamish about reptile and amphibian encounters, there will be chances every half hour to get up and close and personal with some of the Niabi’s newest friends.

If you are more into observing reptiles and amphibians from afar, you won’t be left out! There will be other educational opportunities, crafts and many hands-on activities for you to enjoy.

Head to the Niabi Zoo this weekend for a fun-filled reptile day!
