The experienced providers of Gastroenterology Associates, P.C., has become part of Genesis Health Group, the largest multi-specialty provider group in the region, effective June 28.

Weyman IV, M.D., along with their clinic staff, who will remain at their current location at 2222 53rd Avenue, Bettendorf, Iowa. Teaming up with them at that location beginning June 28 will be Samyuktha Ramavaram, M.D., who is moving from her GHG Woodlands clinic, where she has been seeing patients since 2019. In July, a fourth gastroenterologist, Ryan Perumpail, M.D., will join the practice, uniting all Genesis gastroenterologists in one location.

The physician practice and Center for Digestive Health outpatient endoscopy procedure center will continue to jointly occupy the building.

The physicians are board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, having completed additional training following medical school. The physicians are trained to interpret and treat conditions they identify, including colon cancers; esophageal issues like cancer and chronic heartburn; gastrointestinal bleeding; and, inflammatory bowel diseases.

Additionally, Dr. Perumpail is specially trained in advanced endoscopic procedures such as Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), used to detect suspected cancers, and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), a minimally invasive procedure that combines X-ray and video endoscope technologies to diagnose and treat conditions of the bile ducts. The addition of Dr. Perumpail to the practice gives referring physicians a Genesis option for their patients who require advanced endoscopic services.

“We are excited about what this decision means for patients,” said Kurt Andersen, M.D., Sr. Vice President of Physician Operations/Chief Medical Officer. “New and existing patients of this group will continue to benefit from the expertise and services offered by this practice. We are confident adding these physicians to the Genesis system of care will broaden services and improve coordination of care for our patients.

“Genesis Health Group is committed to providing patients and their families with a full spectrum of high quality health care and technology, delivered with mutual trust, understanding, integrity, compassion, respect and the highest degree of excellence.”

The longstanding relationship Gastroenterology Associates, P.C., has had with Genesis began with an office located on the GMC-West Central Park Campus. It continued with the 2004 opening and partnership in the Center for Digestive Health in Bettendorf, and now culminates with this union in the existing location.

Genesis Health Group, Gastroenterology Associates is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare, Inc.

The phone number to reach Drs. Huh, Weyman, Ramavaram beginning on June 28 and Dr. Perumpail (after he arrives in July), or for other services offered through the Genesis Health Group, Gastroenterology Associates, is (563) 421-8900.
